Lots of people admit to doing their best thinking in the shower, so I don’t think it’s that weird that I chose my color scheme while I was in the shower. I do think it’s a little weird that the reason I chose the color scheme for my wedding while I was in the shower, is that I chose the color scheme… of my shower.
We didn’t do much to our house once we moved in. We needed something turn-key because we are both really busy, and E doesn’t know how to stop working long enough to complete a project of any substantial size. The one thing we did, was paint the main bathroom. When we moved in, the bathroom had classic white subway tile with black tile edges. I chose a nice shade of blue to complement. The morning after the painting was finished, as I was standing in the shower daydreaming like I always do, I though hey, I really like how these colors go together… a lot… maybe I’ll use them in other places… maybe they’ll be my wedding colors… yes, they’ll be my wedding colors.
Off I went, googling things that were the same color as these colors I now loved. I settled quickly on dark blue hydrangeas for my bridal bouquet. I decided I wanted the bridesmaids to be opposite me, wearing the blue and carrying the white hydrangeas. It wasn’t easy to find bridesmaid dresses in the right shade of blue at first. Aqua, baby blue, and navy are quite easy to find, but any other shade seemed to pose a problem. When someone told me JCrew had a new wedding line I couldn’t wait to check it out. You should have heard me squeal when I found out one of their dress colors is… I’m not making this up… “Bright Hydrangea.” SOLD. In addition to the blue, I love the classic elegance of black and white. After a few google image searches, I decided the Damask pattern was it for me. I want to put it on the invites, the tables, the cake, everything!
So there’s my palette, black and white damask with hydrangea blue. Ah, I love it!
